The flight safety
department includes three operational sections which
are:
- AIRWORTHINESS SERVICE
- FLIGHT OPERATIONS SERVICE
- PERSONNEL LICENSING SECTION
Airworthiness Service:
For maintaining Airworthiness
conducting continous inspection and surveillance
on the organizations or personnel engaged in the
repair, overhaul and maintenance of state registered
or operated aircraft.
The use of national regulations, requirements of
the handbooks or manuals approved by the manufacture
shall be complied with.
Flight Operations service: Initial
inspection certifications and the continued surveillance
of the operator to ensure that the required standards
of operation are maintained.
The Law and regulations which implement the provisions
of the Annexes to the ICAO Convention provide the
Basement of the safe and efficient operation of
the following:
- Commercial air operations
- Aerial work operations
- General aviation operations
Personnel licensing
section:
In charge of implementing established
Decrees and regulations based on Standards and
Recommended Practices of Annex 1,
Validation of licenses, Conducting the examinations
and the issuance and renewal of Lebanese Personnel
Licences: flight Crew members and other than flight
crew members such as: Cabin Attendant, Ground
mechanic
The responsability of the FSD (Flight Safety Department)
under the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority)
The FSD is the regulatory arm of the CAA, responsible for regulatory safety
oversight and enforcement of the Lebanese Aviation Regulations (LAR) and the Commercial Air Services
Standards (CASS) that are based on the International Civil Aviation Organization's Annexes (SARPS).
The LAR and CASS govern all aspects of Civil Aviation, including airline transportation services, air
navigation, airports and air traffic control activities, with safety and security as the corner stone
of the FSD regulatory activities.
